So, example – if you weigh 140 pounds, you would aim to drink between 70 and 140 ounce of water each day. Obviously if you are doing a lot of physical activity (which we recommend) or if you are out in the heat of the sun a lot, then make sure to increase your water intake.
Sometimes when we are exercising in colder temperatures, we don’t sweat as much, if we sweat at all. We tend to think this means that we didn’t use or lose any water, and we don’t need to rehydrate. The truth is that your muscles and the rest of your body uses water internally during heightened physical activity. So even if you didn’t sweat much, make sure to drink some water anyway. Many athletes will increase their water intake up to 24-48 hours before strenuous activity in order to be more hydrated going in.
