Understanding GERD

GERD is an acronym for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. It is a disease that occurs when your esophagus (the tube from your mouth to your stomach) becomes swollen due to acid in your stomach coming back up towards your throat. Our stomachs have a special lining that protects it from acid. However, our throats don’t have that lining. There is also a stomach muscle that usually doesn’t allow acid from digestion to come back up to your throat. So when this muscle isn’t working, we experience acid reflux, also known as heartburn. According to this article, “Roughly 25 to 40 percent of the adults in the U.S. suffer from some variety of GERD, with as much as 10 percent of the population experiencing it on a regular (daily or weekly) basis.”  There are a lot of people who experience the negative effects of acid reflux. However, treating GERD naturally can easily be done.

Causes of Acid Reflux

The most common causes of acid reflux are due to the types of food we eat and when we eat them. Eating a lot of greasy, fatty foods can cause heartburn. Citrus flavored or spicy foods can also be culprits. If you consume a lot of these types of foods right before lying down or going to bed, you increase the chance of experiencing GERD. Having a poor lifestyle, in general, can also cause heartburn. A few other contributors to GERD are being overweight or gaining a lot of weight at once, smoking, drinking, and other medical conditions. Experiencing acid reflux is very uncomfortable, painful, and sometimes dangerous. You might feel a burning in your chest and throat, or you might have difficulty swallowing things.

Treating GERD Naturally

Aloe Vera Review suggests three ways that Aloe helps with acid reflux and GERD. It is naturally soothing, an anti-inflammatory, and it is alkaline.

Naturally Soothing

Aloe works on your esophagus the same way it would work on a sunburn on your skin. It has naturally healing substances and gives your stomach a cooling sensation. It can also heal and repair damaged tissues.

Your throat can’t handle the acid that your stomach is kicking back up to it. Therefore, your esophagus expands trying to protect your throat. Aloe works as an anti-inflammatory agent that can help soothe the esophagus.

Being alkaline, the opposite of acidic, aloe will neutralize the stomach acids. It also naturally detoxifies the body.

Use one to three ounces of aloe juice at mealtimes to reduce the effects of heartburn, especially if you know the meal contains items that usually trigger acid reflux for you. Otherwise, you can drink it after a meal as soon as you start to feel irritation from heartburn to get instant relief.

Aloe Vera Review also states: “Many people have never connected aloe vera juice and acid reflux, not realizing that this is a very simple and natural way to combat one of the most common digestive tract issues. Aloe vera juice is so effective for heartburn that many people stop experiencing it altogether after incorporating this juice into their diets.”

Treating GERD naturally is one more benefit of taking the aloe arborescens Supreme Immune Health Formula on a regular basis..

  • As a long time student of Aloes plus growing aloe arborescens
plants for four years, may I congratulate you on a brilliant, very detailed informative series of reports on Aloe.
But I’ve just come to your page on ‘Treating GERD’ and to someone who just read this report, they may be in a fog.
Previously plus repeatedly your readers are being informed about aloe arborescens also obviously the Father’s formula is being promoted.
Then ‘out of the blue’ for readers up pops Aloe Vera!
Yet this type is not promoted.
My understanding is that whilst Aloe Vera which is generally more known about than aloe arborescens, it is far less effective than AAr. Yet readers suddenly reading about aloes here, may then wonder ‘Where can I buy this AV?’ Not here.
The Father along with American & Sicilian growers have rightly all along with yourselves concentrated on Aloe Arborescens.
Yet the general public are more often thinking Aloe Vera.

In my view as a grower (not commercial) , the only advantage of Aloe Vera is the plants do not grow to five feet high , my AA
seem determined to raise the roof of my conservatory.
Incidentally the picture of the Father on the front of the article, seems to detail plants with ‘trunks’ whilst inside the
report short ones appearing to radiate from the base, similar to Aloe Vera , though obvious in full flower. My plants do not flower just get taller & taller. Originally came from USA.

    • Looks like Aloe vera is only mentioned because the Aloe Vera Review is the name of one of the sources and since Aloe vera helps with GERD, obviously Aloe arborescens does too, just does it better. :)
